The Unity Candle Ceremony

__________ & ________, you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings. You have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with each other. This beautiful union is now symbolized by the lighting of the Unity Candle.

The two distinct flames represent your lives to this moment; individual and unique. The center candle you are about to light is a candle of Marriage. Its fire is magical because it represents the light of two people in love. It is a candle of Unity because both must come together, giving a spark of themselves, to create the new light. This candle is also a candle of Commitment because it takes two people working together to keep it aflame. It has been said that life is like a flame. It has its own warmth and its own brilliance. But it is in the union of Two that something brighter, warmer, more wonderful takes place.

_______ & __________, please light the center candle to symbolize the union of your lives.

As you have lit this candle today, may the brightness of the flame shine throughout your lives. May the radiance of this one light be a testimony of your unity. May this candle burn brightly as a symbol of your commitment to each other. May it give you courage and reassurance in darkness. Warmth and safety in the cold.   May it give you strength and joy in your bodies, minds and spirits. The life that each of you experienced now, individually, will hereafter be inseparably united, for the two shall become one. May your union be forever blessed.

Rose Ceremony

In the Rose Ceremony, the Bride and Groom give each other a Rose. Two roses are all that is necessary. The Rose Ceremony is placed at the end of the ceremony just before being pronounced husband and wife. In the old language of flowers, a single red rose always meant "I love you". The Rose ceremony gives recognition to the new and most honorable title of "Husband and Wife".

Minister:  "Your gift to each other for your wedding today has been your wedding rings - which shall always be an outward demonstration of your vows of love and respect; and a public showing of your commitment to each other.

You now have what remains the most honorable title which may exist between a man and a woman - the title of "husband" and "wife." For your first gift as husband and wife, that gift will be a single rose.

In the past, the rose was considered a symbol of love and a single rose always meant only one thing - it meant the words "I love you." So it is appropriate that for your first gift - as husband and wife - that gift would be a single rose.

Please exchange your first gift as husband and wife. In some ways it seems like you have not done anything at all. Just a moment ago you were holding one small rose - and now you are holding one small rose. In some ways, a marriage ceremony is like this. In some ways, tomorrow is going to seem no different than yesterday. But in fact today, just now, you both have given and received one of the most valuable and precious gifts of life - one I hope you always remember - the gift of true and abiding love within the devotion of marriage.

_______ and ________, I would ask that where ever you make your home in the future - whether it be a large and elegant home - or a small and graceful one - that you both pick one very special location for roses; so that on each anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion you both may take a rose to that spot both as a recommitment to your marriage - and a recommitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon love.

In every marriage there are times where it is difficult to find the right words. It is easiest to hurt who we most love. It is easiest to be most hurt by who we most love. It might be difficult some time to words to say "I am sorry" or "I forgive you"; "I need you" or "I am hurting". If this should happen, if you simply can not find these words, leave a rose at that spot which both of you have selected - for that rose than says what matters most of all and should overpower all other things and all other words.

That rose says the words: "I still love you." The other should accept this rose for the words which can not be found, and remember the love and hope that you both share today.

_______ and ________, if there is anything you should remember of this marriage ceremony, it is that it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which can make it a glorious union, and it is by love that your marriage shall endure."

Ceremony of the Coins and the Lasso

It is the customary that the groom gives his new bride 13 gold coins during the ceremony and for the priest to bless the coins. The coins are a symbol of the groom’s commitment to support his new bride.

Minister:  To the Groom                       please repeat after me: I give you these coins as as a symbol that I shall always provide for you and our home.
.

To the Bride:                     please repeat after me:  And I accept them and promise that I will always spend  wisely in our home.

Placing of the Cord (Lasso)

Minister: Will you please put the Cord around their necks? (forming and 8)

Minister: This is a symbol that you  have been  united for life. What God has joined, let no man separate.

Blessing Stone Ritual

·      After the bride and groom walk down the aisle together, as the families follow, the guests are invited to participate in the Blessing Stone Ritual:

Family and Friends,

_______ & __________ ask that you participate in the Blessing Stone Ritual.  As you depart, please take a stone from the basket and follow __________ & _________ to the ocean.  Make a wish or blessing for them and cast your stone into the water.

Breaking of the Glass

The breaking of the glass at the end of a wedding ceremony serves to remind of two very important aspects of a marriage. The bride and groom - and everyone - should consider these marriage vows as an IRREVOCABLE ACT - just as permanent and final as the breaking of this glass is unchangeable. But the breaking of the glass also is a warning of the FRAILTY of a marriage. That sometimes a single thoughtless act, breech of trust, or infidelity can damage a marriage in ways that are very difficult to undo - just as it would be so difficult to undo the breaking of this glass. Knowing that this marriage is permanent, the bride and groom should strive to show each other the love and respect befitting their spouse and love of their life.

Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel

Don't go changing to try to please me,
You never let me down before.
I don't imagine you're too familiar,
And I don't see you anymore.

I would not leave you in times of trouble,
We could have never come this far.
I took the good times,
I'll take the bad times,
I take you just the way you are.

Don't try some new fashion,
Don't change the color of your hair,
You always have my unspoken passion,
Although I might not seem to care,

I don't want clever conversation,
Never want to work that hard,
I just want someone that I can talk to,
I want you just the way you are

I need to know that you will always be,
The same old someone that I knew.
Ah, what will it take till you believe in me,
The way that I believe in you?

I said I love you and that's forever,
And this I promise from the heart.
I could not love you any better,
I love you, I want you,
just the way you are.

This Ring- (unity song) by T Carter Music

I've been waiting for this moment for so long
An answered prayer,
I know you are the one

I give to you my heart and soul

With a love that will never grow old

In my life, I can see

That you were made for me

You'll be there to catch me if I fall

I'll be there to catch you if you fall

All the days, I have prayed

And the love that I have saved

I thank God for the gift He has given me

A love that's strong for all of eternity

I give to you all of my days

With a love for all of your ways
With this ring, I'm giving you my all

In the days that we grow old

The times may change but our love will remain

As we look back on this day now

We stood the test of time
Living the promise of our vow
WIth this ring, I'm giving you my all...

You're My Home - Lea Salonga

I close my eyes

And I can feel that you're a part of me

You are my home

Though I'm afar I'm in your company

I'm in you

I play my song

And I can hear you're in my melody

My life, my home

No matter what with you I'll always be

Come take my hand

Come fill your heart with all the love you see

Let every child

Be what they are, be what they wanna be

You're my home

And together we share this love for us

To be happy and free

you're my home

And together we'll strive to make this world

A better place to be

For you and me.

A MOMENT LIKE THIS by Kelly Clarkson

If I told you it was all meant to be,

Would you believe me?
Would you agree?

It's almost that feeling that we met before

So tell me that you don't think I'm crazy

When I tell you love has come here and now

A moment like this

Some people wait a lifetime

For a moment like this

Some people search forever

For that one special kiss

Oh I can't believe it's happening to me

Everything changes but beauty remains

Something so tender
I can't explain

Well I may be dreaming but till I awake

Can we make this dream last forever?

And I'll cherish all the love we share

Could this be the greatest love of all

I wanna know that you will catch me when I fall

So let me tell you this

Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this

Oh I can't believe it's happening to me.
